Dr. David XU, PhD

David Xu, PhD is an Executive Technical Advisory Board Member with About The Kids Foundation. A proud father of two young children, David brings 11+ years experience in mobile and cloud software development. David has made significant contributions to the developments of Mobile Technology, Cloud Based Computing, GPS applications tracking and analyzing the GPS locations of mobile users, 3D Engine Development, Mobile 3D Graphics, and Artificial Intelligence.

Currently, David is a Software Engineer for Qualcomm Inc., an American multinational semiconductor and telecommunications equipment company that designs and markets wireless telecommunications products and services.

Previously, David spent seven years as a Software Engineer for Samsung’s San Jose Mobile Communications Lab. During his career with Samsung, David earned an Extraordinary Achievement Award for the JSR184 Engine Development. He also held multiple patents, including “Apparatus and Method for Stereoscopic Video with Motion Sensors”, “Apparatus and Method for Adaptive Camera Control Method Based on Predicted Trajectory”, “Apparatus and Method for 3D Font Engine”, “3D Graphical User Interface”, and “NFC Reverse Authentication”.

David started his education in Software Engineering in China at the Shandong University of Technology, where he received his Bachelor’s degree in Material Science and Engineering. He then received his Master’s in Computer Science at the Zhejiang University. David moved to the US in 2006 and enrolled at the University of Central Florida, where he earned his PhD in Computer Science and was granted the Hillman Fellowship award. David is fluent in both English and Chinese, but his favorite language is C, C++, and Java.

David is highly driven and passionate about continuously pushing the technology industry forward, in a world where innovation and productivity is essential to human progress.
